Discount Tire Great Lakes Regional Office

Project Overview

Corporate Office Environmental Graphics & Workplace Branding
Location: Okemos, Michigan

When Discount Tire renovated its Great Lakes Regional Office in Okemos, Michigan, the goal was to create a workplace that reflected the company’s history, culture, and values through branded environmental graphics. Working with Image Craft in Phoenix, Arizona, Capital Imaging served as the local Michigan installation partner, providing site surveys, field verification, installation consulting, project coordination, and final installation. The project transformed ordinary office walls into an immersive branded environment featuring large-scale wall murals, dimensional lettering, acrylic room signs, framed artwork, and custom vinyl graphics throughout the facility. Because the design team was located more than 1,800 miles away, the success of the project depended on accurate field measurements, clear communication, and experienced installation.

  • All

This project required far more than installing graphics. Before production could begin, every wall, window, door, outlet, switch plate, ceiling height, and architectural feature had to be measured and documented to ensure the artwork would align correctly once installed. Several design elements depended on exact positioning, including:

  • Reception wall graphics
  • Conference room murals
  • Hallway branding graphics
  • Break room environmental graphics
  • Dimensional lobby lettering
  • Acrylic office signage
  • Framed corporate artwork

Because the graphics incorporated typography and historical imagery, even small field measurement errors could have caused noticeable misalignment. Capital Imaging worked directly with the design team throughout the planning process, verifying measurements and recommending production methods that would ensure a precise installation.

Overcoming Unexpected Challenges

Like many commercial projects, several unexpected issues arose during installation. The dimensional acrylic letters required minor modifications after arriving from the manufacturer. Several acrylic room signs also required hole modifications because the supplied hardware did not match the factory-drilled holes. Rather than delaying the project, Capital Imaging carefully enlarged the openings using specialized acrylic drilling techniques to prevent cracking or chipping. When mounting hardware for the acrylic signs was missing from the shipment, we coordinated directly with the manufacturer to resolve the issue and keep the project moving forward. These types of field adjustments are often what separate an experienced installation partner from a company that simply installs graphics.
