A New Spring Scene

Technically, springtime isn’t for another couple of days, but this winter has already overstayed its welcome. Certainly, we have never been more excited to welcome an equinox than after enduring that Polar Vortex. Without the chilling winter winds blistering our faces, it will be nice to finally lift our heads out of our hoods and take a look around. As the snow melts, new scenery is revealed, and it’s a clean slate for everybody. Read more

Sunny with a Chance of FREEBIES!

I think we can all use a sunny forecast in these bleak days at winter’s end (which doesn’t seem to be ending). Checking my phone for the weekly forecast, I was disappointed to see another cold week with clouds and snowflakes. It was time to take some action…

Since Capital Imaging can’t guarantee real sunshine in the month of March (only wish for it), we all figured that while we eagerly anticipate the warmer weather, we’d create our own forecast and spread some sunshine to others.

In the month of March, for each order purchased of $100, you can receive one FREE box of 250 high-quality, professional business cards.*These aren’t your typical cookie-cutter freebies. We’ve provided lots of options for you to customize your print specs, so they’ll fit right in with your current brand materials (see terms & conditions for details). If you need new cards designed, we can do that too at an additional design rate, and your prints will still be free!

The more orders you place for at least $100, the more free boxes of cards you receive. I’d say that could help to brighten anyone’s day. We all need business cards, right?

Here are the full details:

*Terms & Conditions: For each order purchased of $100 or more during March 2014, receive one FREE box of 250 high-quality, professional business cards. Redeem your free business cards by 4/30/14 by mentioning this blog post. If required, design services are billed at regular rates.

Business card options for eligible orders: 3.5×2” size; uncoated, silk, or gloss stock; 130 lb. cover stock (additional stock options available at no extra cost); single or double-sided; black & white or full color; 5 business day turnaround upon receiving print-ready file; and in-store pickup (shipping rates available). Restrictions may apply.

Skating Her Way to the Top

Layback spin. Double axel. The figure skaters at the Sochi Winter Olympics make these moves look effortless as they gracefully glide across our television screens this time of year. However, when I strap on a pair of rental ice skates every winter to only fall on my face, I’m reminded that it takes a lot of hard work, training, and creativity to get where they are.

Christie Evenson knows this more than most. A junior at Michigan State University, Christie divides her time between the MSU Intercollegiate Figure Skating Team, a full schedule of classes, Creative Services Manager for ASMSU (Associated Students of MSU), and now her new role as Graphic Design Intern at Capital Imaging. As easy as she makes it look, it’s clear this designer is putting in all she’s got to skate her way to the top. We hope she’s left a little room for relaxation.

Help us welcome our new teammate for this spring semester and get to know a little bit more about her:

Year: Junior
Major: Studio Arts
Specialization: Creative Advertising
Hometown: Okemos
Design Passion: Packaging & print design
Fun Fact: Studied abroad for painting in Italy (mainly Florence) in June 2013

More on why In-house printing is more expensive than outsourcing.

Know the hidden costs.

Not only are you shelling out dollars for monthly equipment payments, you are also paying for click cost, and variable supplies such as toner and paper. Other hidden costs linked to in-house printing are valuable facilities space that could have higher-impact uses, payroll and productivity costs, long-term leases, overage fees, and shipping costs for transporting documents from your location to where they need to go.
